at Chautauqua

1986

Meetings were held to discuss ways to have a greater Catholic presence

1987

A core group forms and meets to begin planning the services to be provided

1988

Mass is celebrated daily during the nine week summer season

1989

Membership in the Chautauqua Catholic Community reaches 95 Families.

Vigil Mass inaugurated to relieve crowding at 9:30 Sunday Mass

1991

Sunday 12:10 Mass added.

Chautauqua Catholic Community invited as guests to use the Episcopal Chapel of the Good Shepherd, where Mass is celebrated twice daily throughout the season.

1992

Two seminars presented weekly for spiritual growth by our priests-in-residence

Weekly social hours held at the Hall of Missions.

By-laws approved preparatory for incorporation

1993

Incorporated as a 501C(3) tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation

1995

Changed from being a Mission of St. Mary's Parish to an Oratory of the Diocese of Buffalo

1998

Chautauqua Catholic Community receives the gift of Catholic House

1999

Catholic House is dedicated by Bishop Henry Mansell and renovation planning begins

2002

Membership in the Chautauqua Catholic Community reaches 1,500 families
